Romwe Fashion Review:
Autumn Coats, LBDs + More!

Classes are starting again, but before I go and disappear beneath a pile of work and stress, here's a long-overdue review of six Romwe clothing items! I received this package months ago and apologize for the delayed review, since some of the items reviewed are no longer sold. I got an army green military-style coat, ripped pink hooded sweater, off-shoulder faux fur velvet dress, zippered leather vest, navy capelet coat, and Morph8ne Charlotte dress dupe. Details up ahead!

I'm sorry about the poor lighting in some of these pictures; I like to use natural lighting for my photos, but the weather's been gloomy lately and it's been difficult to take well-lit pictures. Nonetheless, I hope this review can be helpful; feel free to leave any questions in the comments section below!

Military coats, jackets, and parkas are a functional and stylish fashion staple, and I couldn't help but be drawn to this oversized military jacket from Romwe, featuring multiple utility pockets, a drawstring hem, button-and-zip closure, and army-style patches.

This coat is sold out now, but was originally sold as a one-size-fits-all piece. With an oversized, longline fit, plus a drawstring tie at the waist for adjustability, this piece is a no-fuss, easy-to-wear jacket that's understated yet unique.

The embroidered patches are what makes this military jacket stand out. There are various patches sewn at the front and along the arm, including an image of an bald eagle before the American flag, a black-and-gold patch that reads "original," and more. I love the placement and design of the patches, which amps up the style of this coat without being overly bold.

I typically wear size XS and this definitely fits oversized, making it a great piece to layer over a dress or skirt and over-the-knee socks. Quality-wise, this is a lighter piece, good for spring and autumn. The material does wrinkle rather easily, and it would've been much better if it were lined. It's a bit overpriced considering the material, but the style looks and fits as expected.

The second piece I chose was a distressed hooded sweater, another one-size-only piece from Romwe.

This oversized, thinly-knit hooded sweater features extra long sleeves, a casual boxy cut, and edgy ripped details. The material is slightly see-through, and the distressed accents are bold, sexy, and surprisingly not fragile.

I'm not too happy with the color, which is more of a peachy, orangey-pink than a true pastel pink. The sweater also came with a strong factory scent, which I've experienced with some of Romwe's clothes before. The scent goes away with a wash, but regardless, it detracts from the overall buying experience.

Despite the color difference, this sweater wasn't a huge letdown since it's priced quite low, and the quality (aside from the scent) is fine. It's a fairly comfortable, casual piece, and I do love the distressed cutouts. I think this would fit better on taller girls, and I personally found it to be a bit too boxy for my preferences.

One of the pieces I was the most excited about in this Romwe order was this off-shoulder velvet bodycon dress, which comes in a one-size-only fit with detached faux fur cuffs.

Combining a sexy off-shoulder neckline with bold faux fur accents and the luxurious look of velvet, this dress is perfect for the season. The velvet fabric is soft to the touch and extra stretchy, allowing this dress to comfortably fit anywhere from XS to M.

I especially love the black faux fur cuffs at the ends of the sleeves, which make this piece stand out from your average bodycon dress. What's even better is that the cuffs are detached, so you can wear the dress on its own and style the cuffs with other pieces in your wardrobe. Multipurpose fashion holds a special place in my heart, and the price of this dress is simply too good to resist!

For a bold, badass addition to any outfit, try this triple zipper-detailed faux leather vest from Romwe, offered in sizes M and L.

This piece combines black faux leather fabric and golden zipper detailing, with a sleeveless cut. The edgy look of the faux leather works well with the slim fit, creating a sleek and feminine silhouette.

The smallest size—size M—fits more like an S, and the zippers can be played around with to adjust the fit. Zip it higher for a closer fit, or leave it unzipped for a looser, more boxy style.

I was surprised to find that the material is pretty good in quality, and doesn't have any factory scent to it. The faux leather has a slightly more shiny look to it than it does on the model, and that would be my only complaint. If only the fabric were a little more matte, this vest would be perfect!

I've tried out a lot of jackets from Romwe, but haven't had much experience with their coats, so I decided to test out their navy blue capelet trench coat.

Navy blue double breasted capelet trench coat from Romwe

Offered in sizes S-XXL, perhaps one of the largest ranges of sizes I've seen in Romwe items, this long sleeve coat combines the classic trench coat silhouette with a cute cape-like accent at the shoulders. The front is embellished with flat golden buttons and two pockets, with a belt to cinch your waist.

I'm not sure how they got this jacket to fit right on the model; they must've pinned the belt or something, because the actual jacket is a lot bigger than I'd expected. The belt isn't adjustable and only has one length setting, which I found to be way too loose on me. To get a more fitting look, I tied the belt for the pictures.

That being said, I do love the style of this jacket. The capelet design is interesting and flattering, the sleeves fit nicely, and the color is perfect. What this piece lacks in is execution; along with the waist being too wide, the material could also be improved, especially for a jacket at this price. It's made of a fabric that feels similar to wool, but is thinner and lighter, evidently not warm enough for winter. If the quality and fit could be improved, I'm sure this would be a stunning piece, but unfortunately I'm not pleased with the reality.

And finally, I got a black ribboned lace-up long sleeve dress, originally sold in a one-size-fits-all.

Ruffled ribboned corset-style lace-up dress by Romwe, a dupe of the Morph8ne Charlotte dress

This long sleeve dress is a dupe of the Charlotte dress by Thai fashion brand Morph8ne, which is selling for more than $160 over at Dollskill. Romwe's copy is available at a much more accessible price point, so I figured it was worth a try.

Like the Charlotte dress, this piece features a high-neck design, button closure at back, white Morph8ne logo at front, light gray ribboned lace-up back, and ruffles at the collar, sleeves, and hem. The lace-up back design reminds me of a corset and allows you to adjust the fit, but be aware that you have to lace it up yourself.

The look and fit of this dress aligns with Romwe's photos, and, for a piece at this price, it has a surprising amount of similarities to the Morph8ne original! The fabric is polyester rather than cotton, but has the same textured look, and the ruffles, though a bit more dramatic than the ones on the Morph8ne dress, add a cute flair to this gothic doll-like dress.

Of course, there are differences between the dupe and the original. Aside from the fabric, the cut is also a lot looser, and I had to tie the laces really tight to give the dress a slimmer fit. The sleeves run big as well, but then again, considering that this is a one-size piece meant to fit a range of sizes, it makes sense. The overall craftsmanship is evidently of a lower caliber than the Charlotte dress; the logo at the front is printed rather than embroidered, and the laces are a light gray color, not the medium gray, slightly shimmery Morph8ne version.

Despite all the discrepancies, I'm pleased with this piece overall, since it fits accurately to Romwe's descriptions and looks as pictured on their site. The price point is reasonable and the style is amazing; say what you want about dupes—I've got mixed feelings myselfbut to those who want the similar style of Morph8ne clothing without having to splurge, check out this dress!

Overall

Although there were some items I loved, this time's Romwe haul isn't going on my favorites list. Items like the navy trench coat and army-style coat could be improved significantly with better material and fitting, and I think it'd be smart to offer more sizes rather than one-size pieces. I've had some great experiences with Romwe products in the past, so this order was rather subpar, but hopefully my next experience has a better turnout.

xoxo,
