When Skincare Review: Special 5-Pack Face Mask Set

One of the recent skincare trends to finally hit American shelves is, surprisingly, a health and beauty essential of many years in Asia: sheet masks! These moisturizing, refreshing facial masks come in all shapes and sizes, but I'll be reviewing a special set of 5 bio-cellulose gel-based masks from Korean brand When! Whether you want intense moisture, brighter skin, or a glowing look, When has the mask for you. Details ahead!

Launched in 2011 by J.C People, When is a global skincare brand that originated from Korea, bringing innovative new breakthroughs in beauty and skincare to Europe, America, the Middle East, and more! They're known for their face masks, which use an all-natural coconut-based bio-cellulose sheet capable of holding ten times the essence of regular paper or fabric masks. With five special products, When skincare masks target every aspect of skincare to bring you soft, smooth, hydrated, and revitalized skin.

All When masks contain no parabens or sulfates and come in individual single-use packages. I love their minimalistic, bright designs, which add a touch of fun to the masks. Each mask also has ginseng extracts, and hyaluronic acid, two popular skincare ingredients.

To use When masks, first ensure your skin is clean and dry, then open the package. Inside are three layers, including a plastic film, the mask in the middle, and paper. Remove the layers of paper and plastic film, then carefully and smoothly place the mask on your face. After leaving the mask on for 30 minutes, remove it and massage any remaining essence until it completely absorbs into your skin; no need to wash or rinse skin afterwards!

I was sent their special package set containing all five masks, which came in a beautiful white box with information on each mask and its distinctive properties, as listed and described below:

Travelmate: This mask, which comes in a bright hot pink and blue package, combines calming chamomile and Swiss Alpine herb extracts. It's perfect for the frequent traveler, with a cooling, moisturizing effect that makes you feel as if you just got a facial!

10:00 PM: The next mask, presented in a purple and yellow design, uses watermelon extract and collagen to restore your skin after a long and tiring day. If you find yourself staying up all night and running around tired all day, your skin is probably exhausted too, and the 10:00 PM mask from When is made just for that! I used this mask at night, and the next morning my skin was glowing and refreshed; definitely impressed with the results!

Snow Magic: Packaged suitably in a bright sea blue, the Snow Magic facial mask is made for those who want brighter skin, combining aloe vera leaf extract and niacinamide to bring out the radiance in your skin. I'm a huge fan of brightening masks, so this was the mask that I was the most excited to try out! After using this mask, my skin was noticeably glowing and brighter. Unlike other brightening masks I've tried, the Snow Magic mask is packed with moisturizing benefits too, and I could still see the effects the next morning!

Glamour Base: In a green and orange package, the Glamour Base mask is one that's perfect for the beginning of your day rather than the end. With collagen, peptides, and adenosine, this mask promises to give you smooth, supple skin and help your makeup last longer, an unusual function for a sheet mask. Like the others, it's very soft and packed with essence; I didn't quite notice any significant effects in regards to how long my makeup stayed on, but I love the moisturizing and refreshing feeling it gives.

The Last Choice: The final mask comes in an orange and blue package, featuring sodium hyaluronate and saccharide isomerate for the ultimate moisturizing effect. This one is perfect for people with dry or flaky skin, and I found it to be true to its promises, working as the most moisturizing of the five masks.

Overall

Sheet masks have been a skincare staple in Asia for so long, and it's great to see brands like When revolutionize skincare by bringing unique, high-quality masks around the globe! These gel-based masks are pricier than paper-based ones, but I think the price is worth it; they're so much more flexible, lightweight, comfortable, and adhesive, and they really stick smoothly to your skin.

There aren't any strange fragrances, and the masks are all packed with essence to deliver a wonderfully moisturizing and revitalizing effect. Though the masks are all branded for different purposes, most of them have a very similar effect, but I honestly can't complain since I love the effect! Even the packaging is fun and refreshing, and I'm very impressed with these masks overall.

If you're looking for high-quality, effective and moisturizing sheet masks, When is undoubtedly worth a try! Find them at Sephora, Ulta, Birchbox, Beautychoice.com and more!
