Make Me Chic Fashion Review: Lace-Up Bodycon Dress

As you can probably tell from some of my recent reviews (like this and this), the lace-up fashion trend is everywhere this season, and I'm loving it! So for today's shopping post, I'll be reviewing a sexy black lace-up front bodycon dress from Make Me Chic! Details after the jump!

As you can probably tell from some of my recent reviews (like this and this), the lace-up fashion trend is everywhere this season, and I'm loving it! So for today's shopping post, I'll be reviewing a sexy black lace-up front bodycon dress from Make Me Chic! - Eat My Knee Socks/Mimchikimchi

Today I'l reviewing my second experience with Make Me Chic; I've previously gotten a floral embroidered bomber jacket and a pair of white distressed skinny jeans from them, which you can read all about in my first MMC review.

This time, I took a risk and picked out a daring black lace-up front bodycon dress with a plunging neckline. This dress, originally $24, is currently sold for $17.90 in sizes XS-L.

Featuring an asymmetric diagonal lace-up front, metallic ring accents, and 3/4 sleeves with partial lace-up detailing, this black bodycon dress is an absolute stunner.

The style is very similar to that of the Margaux lace-up bodycon dress by Nasty Gal, which costs $58 for a nearly identical look, only that Nasty Gal's dress doesn't have the metal rings, whereas Make Me Chic's does. Personally, I like the added touch that the silver rings provide.

The dress looks exactly as pictured on Make Me Chic's site. It's made from a stretchy, lightweight fabric (95% cotton, 5% spandex) for a figure-hugging cut; it fits skintight all the way through, but the material is breathable and comfortable, so you don't have to worry about sacrificing comfort to look sexy in this ultimate LBD. The material is thin and not the best of quality, but serves its purpose well and looks amazing.

I got the dress in size XS, which fits perfectly. There aren't any zippers so you have to pull it on, and for that reason you may want to size up if you've got wider shoulders, though, as I mentioned earlier, the fabric has a ton of stretch to it.

I was originally worried that it'd be incredibly difficult to find a bra to wear with this, but I ended up wearing a regular nude colored bra, and it's barely visible except from up close. A plunging bra would be even less visible, and you can also use pasties for a completely seamless look.

My favorite part about this dress is the lace-up design. Lace-up, corset-style, lattice-like detailing has been very popular recently, but this dress takes it to a whole new level with an asymmetric, plunging lace-up neckline that starts in the center and moves down in a diagonal shape. Plus, the dress has little lace-up accents at the ends of the sleeves, giving it that extra finish.

My only suggestion for improvement for this dress would be to make the fabric a bit thicker; although that might make it a little less comfortable, having a thicker fabric would help it hide bumps and food babies a little better. Overall, though, it's such a stunning and sexy black dress, perfect for parties and going out, and super comfortable as well!

Overall

I like this dress even more than I like the first two items I got from Make Me Chic, and this asymmetric lace-up dress is definitely my favorite piece showcasing the lace-up trend! I look forward to trying out more of their clothes, and, hopefully, being just as happy!
