Today I'm reviewing an item that I recently received from Fusion Republic, a California-based Storenvy shop that sells clothing, shoes, and accessories. They have a cute selection of both unique and popular items, including Japanese Harajuku-inspired apparel, minimalistic monochromatic pieces, and fashion-forward streetwear, combining Asian fashion trends with American styles.

I picked out their pastel-colored tennis skirts to review, since I love the pleated skirt trend and really wanted to add another pastel piece to my wardrobe.

The package took just about two weeks to arrive, and it was sent out during the busiest part of the holiday season, shipped right before Christmas. Delivery probably would've been much quicker if it wasn't shipped in the middle of the holiday season, but either way, two weeks isn't too long of a wait. The item was packaged nicely and arrived in perfect condition! The lovely owner also included a matching blue striped hairband as a freebie for the shipping delay, which was just so cute and thoughtful!

These pastel-colored tennis skirts are sold in sizes XS-M. They cost just $19.99, and are offered in three colors: white, light pink, and sky blue. I already own the American Apparel tennis skirt in white, so I decided to choose between the pink and blue. It took me quite a while to decide between them, though, since both colors are so cute, but I finally ended up picking the sky blue.

American Apparel's tennis skirts have been crazy popular in recent years, sported by celebrities, bloggers, and shoppers everywhere; likewise, I've seen a ton of stores that sell dupes or replicas, including some that I've reviewed. Note, however, that this skirt from Fusion Republic is not a dupe of the American Apparel tennis skirt, and, in fact, I'm glad it's not!

These tennis skirts have clean-cut, sharp pleats and a form-fitting, slightly flared silhouette, but the waist is different from the AA version, and, instead of a zipper and button closure, there's simply a side zipper. The pleats are wider than those on the AA skirts or dupe skirts, and this skirt is a bit shorter in length as well.

To be honest,  I like this skirt even more than the American Apparel tennis skirts! The quality is great; the pleats stay in place, the fabric doesn't wrinkle, the zipper works well, and the material provides just the right amount of structure while still giving the skirt movement when you twirl around.

Here I'm wearing the pastel blue pleated tennis skirt from Fusion Republic (similar to the American Apparel skirts), spiked over-the-knee socks, a ribbed lace-up Kendall and Kylie crop top, and black Jeffrey Campbell Lita spike platform booties dupes for a pastel grunge/Harajuku-inspired look.

The shape of the skirt is super flattering, and the combination of the high-waisted fit and super-short length makes me look a lot taller! It runs on the shorter side, though, (I love short skirts but I'd definitely wear this with safety shorts underneath) so if you're tall or prefer your skirts to be longer, pay attention to the measurements provided and size up when in doubt!

Fit-wise, I'd also recommend sizing up, since the waist seems to be a few centimeters smaller than described. I went with an XS and it fits very snugly, and while I like how it accentuates my waist, I have to be careful not to eat too much when wearing this.

This skirt is honestly every bit as gorgeous and flattering as I'd dreamed, and it's a wonderful piece for all sorts of outfits! Tuck in an oversized T-shirt for a casual ensemble, pair it with a frilly top for a Harajuku-inspired look, layer it under an oversized sweater with tights or over-the-knee socks for a transitional autumn/winter outfit, wear it with an edgy crop top for a sexy-yet-sweet vibe—there are just so many ways to style this skirt, and needless to say I'm in love with it!

Here, I'm wearing the skirt with a black ribbed crop top, spiked over-the-knee socks, and black spiked platform booties (reviewed here).

I'm also really glad that I got the sky blue, which is a bit brighter than pictured in the store photos, but absolutely stunning nonetheless. The white is your best option if you want the most versatile, useful skirt, but I highly recommend the pink and blue ones too; they're tougher to pair with other colors and clothes, but very cute and eye-catching.

Overall, I'm even happier with this pleated tennis skirt than I thought I'd be. It's got all the coveted features of the American Apparel tennis skirtsthe ultra-flattering fit, clean pleats, and versatile style—with its own twist that makes it unique and different. For $20, it meets and exceeds all my expectations for both quality and style, and needless to say it's one of my new loves!

Overall

I had an amazing experience with Fusion Republic and their pastel-colored tennis skirts, and I really recommend checking out their shop for more stylish and affordably-priced fashion picks! Whether your fashion sense leans more towards cute, grunge-y, minimalistic, or casual, they've got wonderful picks that are sure to catch your eye!
